It sounds awesome, but has some minor issues - Speed isn't solid on 3 3/4 IPS. I suspect some hardened grease - Auto shut-off won't work - Line input needs cleaning (there's a reason I'm not using it in this video :D) - I have the feeling the pause function shouldn't be as dramatic as it is right now :D

You have some awesome Equipment and I can see that you really know your way around that Tape Deck !
It's me, same guy, 11 years later. That equipment has been severely, and I mean severely upgraded since then. I got rid of all Direct Drive Akais as they all start vibrating. Sold my GX-630D that I owned since 14 last, a couple of months ago. End of an era! I could still work that 635D blind though, haha.

Just a question ..Why do you need a keyboard with that tape ..Or it is just for looks !
It is used for programming the machine. You need to know a bit of C++ to prgram the right Rotation Frequency Interferrence between the right and left coil (That, or the keyboard might have been connected to a pc?).

Hi, do yo know can I give the best use of these devices?, I have a Discrete 4 interface, would it be a great a udea to record my tracks in the interface, then pass themm trough the tape, and then back?, or record straight into the tapes then go to digital?, thanks in advance.

i also have Akai GX630D universal model ( 120v to 240V) the rew and ffd is slow but the play speed is correct , what can be reason can you help me the right motor is heating , i am writing to you from India
lalit trikha It is probably the heating of the motor. You have to look inside and see if the motor rotates freely and oil it a bit.

@@ltshering Since the deck plays good, the one motor is correct, the other motor needs servicing,. But it is a good idea to oil a bit both motors and see if they overheat.
